Understanding Positional Roles
Every player on your roster has a job. Knowing who does what makes your whole team sharper:
- Linemen — Your front line. They screen, foul, and absorb hits. Don't invest too heavily in their skills early.
- Blitzers — Your best all-rounders. They hit, carry, and score. Prioritise them for skill-ups.
- Catchers — Speed demons. Park them wide, exploit gaps, score in one turn when possible.
- Throwers — Stay protected in the cage. Their job is to deliver the ball, not take hits.
- Big Guys — Anchor the centre. Use them for crowd-pushes and tie-ups, not ball handling.
Key Formations
The 3-4-4 Setup (Receiving)
Place 3 on the Line of Scrimmage, 4 in a middle screen, and 4 deep. Gives you maximum flexibility to run or pass after the kick.
The Power Cage
Form a 3×3 cage around your ball carrier with Guard pieces on the corners. Advance methodically up one side of the pitch, grinding out the clock.
The Screen Defence
On defence, spread your players in a staggered line 3-4 squares back from the LoS. Force your opponent to commit before you react.
Advanced Tips
- Always block before moving — Blocks are your safest actions. Do them first.
- Protect the ball — Never leave your ball carrier exposed. Always cage or screen.
- Manage your clock — If you're ahead, grind. If you're behind, play fast and risky.
- Foul strategically — Target high-value players with a dedicated fouler. It's nasty, but it's the game.
